A sense of drama has always prevailed over the theatre of the artist’s canvases.

Painted when her son was leaving home she chose once again to explore this sense of loss through dignity in the face of pain and in surrounding the central figure with the most glorious of material possessions and to no avail, the artist seems to imply that there is little consolation in the worldly things. The same luscious colour and ripe detail makes for ht especial poignance of this particular piece.
